Air transport and tourism flows to islands: A panel analysis for southern European countries

Air transport is an essential component of the tourism industry, and number, frequency, capacity flight connections may influence level demand, especially for island destinations. This paper evaluates air on arrivals to selected islands in seven southern European Union countries determine nature relationship between tourist transport, specifically, whether services generate demand or merely enable touristic flows. The uses panel data applies econometric model with justifications endogeneity dynamic issues. Results show a moderate impact infrastructures generating additional arrivals; however, shows that prerequisite developing not only determinant increasing arrivals. Tourist appear more than consequence changes in-flight connections.
